All-New X-Men #22 (2014) – X-Men 50th Anniversary Poster Variant launches the major “The Trial of Jean Grey” crossover, bringing together the time-displaced original X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy for their first major crossover adventure.

The original young X-Men have already caused shockwaves by appearing in the modern Marvel Universe. Now their presence has attracted attention from beyond Earth. When alien civilizations learn that Jean Grey, the young mutant who will one day become the host of the devastating Phoenix Force, is alive in the present, the consequences become much more dangerous.

The Shi'ar and other galactic forces see Jean as a potential future threat because of the atrocities committed by the Dark Phoenix. They decide that Jean must answer for crimes she has not yet committed. The young X-Men must therefore protect Jean while confronting an intergalactic threat far beyond anything they have previously faced.

The Guardians of the Galaxy become unlikely allies as the X-Men are pulled into a cosmic conflict involving Jean Grey, the Shi'ar and the legacy of the Phoenix. The storyline continues across Guardians of the Galaxy and All-New X-Men. Marvel's collected edition later gathered Guardians of the Galaxy #11–13 and All-New X-Men #22–24.
