Death of the Venomverse #4 — Björn Barends Cover (2023)

Death of the Venomverse #4 is the fourth issue of Marvel's five-issue Death of the Venomverse limited series, written by Cullen Bunn and David Michelinie, with interior artwork by Gerardo Sandoval, Justin Mason and Taigami.

The striking Björn Barends cover depicts a terrifying symbiote battle. A large, heavily armored and monstrous Venomized figure dominates the center of the artwork, surrounded by grotesque symbiote creatures and tendrils. A pale, distressed human face is caught in the middle of the writhing symbiote mass, while multiple sets of sharp teeth and elongated tongues add to the horror.

The artwork is rendered in a dark, visceral palette of black, red, white, gray and muted green, contrasted by a glowing yellow-green background. The distressed red border and large white DEATH OF THE VENOMVERSE title reinforce the horror-driven tone of the series.

The issue continues Carnage's multiversal killing spree, as he hunts down Venoms across different realities. Marvel's solicitation asks whether Agent Venom and the survivors of her team can possibly stop Carnage—or whether Carnage is destined to win.

The issue also includes the additional stories “No Escape” by David Michelinie and Justin Mason, and “Kid Venom” by Taigami, making the issue a multi-story Venomverse installment.
