NYX #9 — Sara Pichelli Cover (2025) | X-Manhunt Part Two

NYX #9 is the ninth issue of Marvel's NYX series and the second chapter of the X-Manhunt crossover. It was written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, illustrated by Francesco Mortarino, colored by Raúl Angulo, and features a cover by Sara Pichelli with colors by Federico Blee. The issue was released on March 5, 2025, with a $3.99 cover price and Rated T+ designation.

The cover presents a dramatic, close-up portrait of Professor Charles Xavier. The bald telepath dominates the composition, shown gripping both sides of his head with his eyes glowing intensely blue-white. His strained expression and the radiant energy around his eyes suggest overwhelming psychic power and mental turmoil.

Behind Xavier is an abstract, psychedelic environment of purple, pink, white and yellow organic shapes, giving the artwork a surreal telepathic quality. The huge three-dimensional NYX logo stretches across the upper portion of the image, while the left side features the text “THE SECRET MISSION OF PROFESSOR X.”

The story follows Charles Xavier after his escape from Graymalkin Prison, with New York as his first destination. Xavier approaches the young mutant community associated with NYX, but his return creates tension because some of them view him with sympathy while others strongly reject his actions and legacy.
