Thor: God of Thunder #23 — Agustín Alessio Cover (2014)

Thor: God of Thunder #23 is the fifth and final chapter of Jason Aaron's “The Last Days of Midgard” storyline, titled “Blood of the Earth.” The issue features interior artwork by Esad Ribić, colors by Ive Svorcina, and cover art by Agustín Alessio.

The cover presents a dramatic, painterly image of Thor in the center of a devastating battle. He wears his classic Asgardian armor and winged helmet, with his flowing red cape sweeping dramatically behind him. Thor raises Mjolnir overhead while grappling with a huge, horned monstrous figure in the foreground.

The scene is surrounded by rocky debris, shattered structures, lightning and swirling clouds, creating the impression of a catastrophic battlefield. A large ominous face looms behind the enormous THOR: GOD OF THUNDER logo, adding a supernatural and apocalyptic quality to the composition.

The story itself alternates between present-day Thor's final battle in Broxton, Oklahoma, against Dario Agger in his Minotaur form, Ulik and Roxxon's forces, and the far-future King Thor's confrontation with Galactus. The future battle takes a particularly dark turn when King Thor uses the power of the All-Black Necrosword.
